Our standard air arrangements do not include making seat assignments. Seat assignments must be coordinated through your Travel Agent, or directly with the airline. Reservations utilizing our CUSTOM AIR service will attempt to secure seat assignments (Based on availability). Can I use frequent flyer miles to upgrade using your fares and tickets? All of our air carrier contracts are secured on bulk rates that restrict you from using any additional incentives, coupons or discounts. However, most carriers allow guests to accrue frequent traveler miles. Please contact the air carrier assigned to determine if your flights qualify for frequent flyer points. Do you reserve air transportation for partial cruises? Yes, Our Custom Air department can assist you with your request for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may apply. Do you offer one-way air transportation? Yes, Our Custom Air department can assist you with your request for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may apply. Round trip air add-on will apply. Does my infant child have to pay for an airline seat? Domestic Travel: INFANTS UNDER 2 You may travel with an infant free of charge if the infant is in your lap for the duration of the flight. CHILDREN 2 AND OVER Must pay full fare for a seat
International Travel: INFANTS UNDER 2 You may travel with an infant internationally at 10% the adult fare if the infant is in your lap for the duration of the flight. Infant will be reserved Cruise Only with Royal Caribbean. Infant travel must be arranged and paid to the carrier directly prior to departure. CHILDREN 2 AND OVER Must purchase a seat at a full or discounted rate depending on the air carrier. How does Air/Sea notify Travel Agents/Guests of schedule changes? Air/Sea will attempt to notify Travel Agents/Guests of schedule changes. However it is the Travel Agent and Guests' responsibility to reconfirm flights prior to departure. Once tickets have been issued it is the airlines responsibility to protect schedule changes resulting in misconnecting flights. We were required to fly out at 6am when I know that there were empty seats on later flights? Airlines allocate only a certain amount of seats for cruise lines on flights. We do not have access to every seat on an aircraft at our contracted fare rate. Rule of thumb-the more popular a flight, the fewer seats the airline will sell us at our contracted rate. If you have a time of day departure preference, please request CUSTOM AIR for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may also apply. What are the cost of transfers? Parameters for C/O? Travel time from Airport to Ship? Transfer costs, cruise only parameters and travel time to/from airport vary depending on port city the ship leaves/arrives from. Please contact Reservations at 1-800-327-6700 for specific details pertaining to your specific sailing. What are the penalties for canceling my hotel package? DOMESTIC Cancellations made 30 days prior to sailing will be charged one hotel night, including taxes. Cancellations within 3 days of sailing will recieve NO refund.
EUROPE/EXOTICS Cancellations made 30-8 days prior to sailing will be charged 50% of the package. Cancellations made 8 days or less prior to sailing will receive NO refund. What is the difference between an optional and mandatory day prior gateway? Mandatory day prior gateways are gateways where we are unable to secure any flights on the same day or on a red eye for you to arrive at the seaport in time for your cruise. For this reason Royal Caribbean will make arrangements for you to arrive at the seaport one-day/night prior and provide complimentary hotel accommodations. NOTE: Red-eye service may be used from a mandatory day prior gateway if it becomes available.
An optional day prior gateway may require you fly to the seaport the night prior to the cruise on a red-eye flight schedule. If Royal Caribbean International is unable to provide you with air transportation on the day of your cruise or on a red-eye flight, we will provide complimentary hotel accommodations at our option. If you do not want a red-eye flight you may utilize our CUSTOM AIR department for a nominal service fee and hotel arrangements at your own expense. When do I receive my airline flight schedules? Standard air schedules are available at 60 days prior to the sailing. However, if you utilized a travel agent to make your cruise reservation, the air schedule is available at 90 days prior through our partner link, Cruising Power. Note that Custom Air reservations receive immediate confirmation of their desired itinerary. Why are the times of my flights going to and/or returning from my cruise so late? Our standard air arrangements are geared toward your arrival at the cruise port on time-and home again. Due to the availability of flights and contract fares, optimum flight times may not be available. Sometimes there are local shore excursions that are offered so that airport wait time is minimized. If you have a time of day departure preference, please take advantage of our CUSTOM AIR arrangements for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may also apply. Why did some people receive better air schedules, even though I reserved earlier? Airlines make hourly changes to the availability of fares offered. A flight and contracted fare might be available, and then become unavailable, and then available again closer to sail date. You are not guaranteed better flight times by reservation your cruise early. Remember our standard air arrangements do not give you a choice of departure times. If you have a time of day departure or air carrier preference, please utilize our CUSTOM AIR department for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may apply. Why do some of your flights connect through cities that are out of the way or inconvenient? Airline flights during major holiday periods are very popular and sell out. At these times of year it is often difficult to find an empty airline seat-much less a seat that is at our contracted rates. Consequently, the air routings may be a little less desirable during these peak travel periods. If length of travel time is concern, please request CUSTOM AIR for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may apply. Why doesn't air arrangements provide direct, non-stop flights whenever possible? In order to provide the lowest price possible for our standard air arrangements, we will often use lower fared connecting flights instead of non-stop flights. Sometimes non-stop flights will not have any seats left at our contracted air rates so connections must be used. If you have a preference for non-stop flights, please request and use our CUSTOM AIR service for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may also apply. Why is my airfare with your Air/Sea program so high? If lowest possible fare is desired, there are usually lower sale/internet fares being offered by the airlines than what we offer. Note these are usually instant purchase fares with high cancellation and change penalties. The air add-on that we offer our guests provide the following benefits which include: | Transfers to and from the airport and seaport for you and your luggage. | | Forwarding to next port of call in the event you flight is cancelled or delayed. | | More flexible fares in the event your trip plans change. | | Tracking of your inbound flights-so the ship will be informed of late arrivals and can assess a late ship departure. |
Why is my flight arriving into another city other than the city of the port the ship is departing from? (Example: Seattle instead of Vancouver) Airlines only provide cruise lines with a certain amount of seats into each city at our contracted rates. Once we have used up our allotment of seats into the ships departure city, we may us an additional city close in proximity to the port. In all cases when we use an alternate city we will transport guests via motor coach to the port. If you would like to guarantee your flight arrives into the city the ship departs from, please utilize our CUSTOM AIR service for a nominal service fee. Additional air costs may also apply. Why was our group not on the same flights? Guests from the same gateway that are reserved at the same time in the same stateroom will be reserved on the same flights. We cannot guarantee all other guests will be traveling together. Guests in separate cabins that desire to travel together may use our CUSTOM AIR service for a nominal service fee (this includes families in separate staterooms excluding minors under 21). Additional air costs may apply. |
