Final payment of the balance must be received at Royal Caribbean's offices at least 60 days prior to the sailing date for 3, 4, or 5-night cruise vacations and 70 days prior to the sailing date for 7-night or longer cruise vacations. The payment schedule for groups is different from that of individuals. You will usually receive cruise and air documents no later than 28 days before the start of your cruise.
For all holiday sailings, (Christmas and New Year's), payment is due 90 days prior to sailing. Can I take a partial cruise? Yes! Partial cruises allow you to enjoy part of your cruise vacation in the event that you are unable to meet the ship in the scheduled boarding port, or would like to end your cruise earlier than the scheduled departure date.
Requests for security clearance concerning late boarding or early departure must be submitted in writing to the Guest Flight Operations office for consideration at least one week prior to sail date. Guests must have a confirmed reservation in order to receive clearance. If the reservation was made by a travel agency, the agency must submit the request on travel agency letterhead. Guests with reservations made directly through Royal Caribbean International or royalcaribbean.com can submit their own request. Please include a return fax number or e-mail address.
If guests are pre-approved for boarding/departure in an alternate port of call, the ship's security staff is notified to expect the guests at the designated port. The approved guests are responsible for making all travel arrangements and will incur any additional expenses (for flights, hotels, transfers to the pier, etc.). Prepaid gratuities will be added to all approved reservations for the length of cruise.
Restrictions: Certain countries, such as the U.S., Italy and Norway, have cabotage laws affecting passenger movements. These laws restrict foreign flag passenger vessels (such as those operated by Royal Caribbean) from transporting guests from one port to another port in the same country. In the U.S., the cabotage law applicable to the cruise industry is commonly called the Jones Act but is legally titled the Passengers Services Act. A brief summary of this U.S. law follows:
If a passenger (as listed on a vessel passenger manifest) embarks in a U.S. port and the vessel calls in a nearby foreign port (such as Ensenada, Grand Cayman and Nassau) and then returns to the U.S., the person must disembark in the same U.S. port. A passenger who embarks and disembarks in two different U.S. ports (such as Los Angeles and San Diego) would result in the carrier (not the violator) being fined. The vessel must call in a distant foreign port before the U.S. embarkation and disembarkation ports can differ. The nearest distant foreign ports are in or off the coast of South America. If either the passenger's embarkation port or disembarkation port is in a foreign country, then the provisions of this cabotage law do not apply. Nor do they apply in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Similar passenger movement restrictions exist for cruise vessels calling in Italy and Norway.

Royal Caribbean International maintains the right to deviate from any scheduled port of call without prior notice. Royal Caribbean International is not legally liable for any loss to guests caused by reason of the deviation. In addition, while Royal Caribbean International will attempt to follow our published schedules as closely as possible, they are not responsible if the published times at any ports of call cannot be adhered to. However, Royal Caribbean International will attempt to keep our guests informed of any changes. Can Passage or a Booking Request Be Refused? We are delighted to have provided a safe and enjoyable cruise to millions of guests over the years. To facilitate our ability to continue to provide safe and enjoyable cruises to our guests, we reserve the right to refuse to accept a reservation request from an individual or group and reserve the right to cancel an existing reservation. For more details, see our Refusal to Transport Policy. That policy provides, among other things, that a reservation request may be denied, for example, where the guest's conduct on a prior cruise has resulted in disciplinary measures by Royal Caribbean.
In addition, a guest may be removed from the vessel where, in the opinion of the ship's captain, a guest is unfit for travel or a risk or danger to himself or herself or a disturbance or danger to others. Such guest may be left at any port or place at which the ship calls without liability to Royal Caribbean. For additional details see the Refusal to Transport Policy and the Guest Vacation Policy.
Royal Caribbean is not liable for its refusal to transport any passenger or for its removal of any guest in accordance with these policies. In addition, Royal Caribbean shall not be required to refund any amount paid by any guest who must leave the cruise vacation prematurely pursuant to the either policy, nor shall Royal Caribbean be responsible for lodging, meals, return transportation or other expenses incurred by the guest or for any consequential or punitive damages. Can unaccompanied minors cruise? Effective July 1, 2005 guests under the age of 21 must be booked in a stateroom with an adult who is 21 years or older. A parent or legal guardian must accompany guests under the age of 18 and must be resevrved in the same or adjacent stateroom. Acceptable proof will be required. These restrictions may be waived at our discretion where applicable.
Please note: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for the entire cruise vacation. Royal Caribbean International does not accept reservations for student groups. Please consult a travel agent for Royal Caribbean's group policies. Do I need extra insurance? Because our liability for loss or damage is limited by the Cruise Ticket Contract, we recommend that all guests check their own insurance coverage. For greater peace of mind, we offer CruiseCare® Travel Insurance, including medical, baggage and Evacuation coverages to protect you during your Covered Trip. If a hurricane threatens, what will happen to my cruise? We try to avoid operating any ship in the vicinity of a tropical system and we will monitor the progress of these storms very closely. If there is a potential threat to any of our guests or ships, the itinerary may be altered to try to avoid any interaction with the storm or any affected areas. If I have to cancel my cruise, will I get a refund? You will get a full refund if you notify us in writing 70 days (60 days for 3 & 4-night cruises) prior to your sailing date. Consult the chart below to determine the cancellation charges applicable later.
Note: No refunds will be made if you do not show up for your cruise or if you interrupt or cancel your vacation once it has begun.
This cancellation policy applies when reserving with our US Office only. Guests should contact their local Royal Caribbean International Office or Travel Agent for full details of applicable cancellation policies.
